Rory Tobin, co-head of Global SPDR business


He will be based in London and report to Rory Tobin, co-head of Global SPDR business. SSGA is a global leader in exchange traded funds, with $452 billion in assets under management.1

Smith, a 30-year industry veteran will be responsible for leading, managing and developing all aspects of the operating infrastructure for the global SPDR ETF business, ensuring that SPDR ETFs will continue to deliver the highest quality investment products and solutions to clients and market participants.

Prior to joining State Street Global Advisors, Smith was interim global COO in the Global Investments and Solutions division at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management. Smith served in previous roles as global COO for M&G Real Estate and European COO of Barclays Global Investors where he played a leading role in establishing and managing the European iShares business. Smith spent the early part of his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers as Principal and Head of the Investment Management Consultancy Practice for the investment management sector.

(iii) the trustee of a trust with assets (before deducting any liabilities) of at least £10 million or which were at least £10 million within the previous year; or

(iv) a person acting in his capacity as a director, officer or employee of a person of a type described in paragraphs (i) to (iii) above (i.e. he must not be acting on his own personal account) whose responsibilities, when acting in his capacity as a director, officer or employee of such person, involve him in engaging in regulated activities as defined in the FSMA.

Financial Advisers and Wealth Managers, include:

Persons that are authorised by the relevant authorities in the UK to act as a professional investor or financial adviser
