Vanguard announced today the appointment of Adrienne Monley in a newly created role as Head of Investment Stewardship, Europe. In this role, Adrienne will establish and lead new European Investment Stewardship team, based in Vanguard’s European headquarters in London.
The team will assume responsibility for advocating on behalf of Vanguard fund investors with public companies in Europe. This will involve direct engagement with public company board directors and executives, as well as proxy voting. The European Investment Stewardship team will also undertake research into corporate governance topics and enable Vanguard to deepen its participation in European stewardship and corporate governance industry groups.
Glenn Booraem, Investment Stewardship Officer, comments: “At Vanguard we take very seriously our obligation to advocate in our fund investors’ best interests across the globe. Adrienne’s experience and knowledge will be of great benefit as we continue to expand and globalize the resources devoted to investment stewardship.
“We have historically managed all of our investment stewardship engagement and proxy voting from Vanguard’s global headquarters in the U.S. However, with the growth of our ownership in and engagement with European public companies, this the right time to establish a new dedicated team in London.”
As a Senior Manager and Strategist in Vanguard’s U.S.- based Investment Stewardship team, Ms. Monley has played a key role in developing the Investment Stewardship function by leading engagement and research for some of Vanguard’s largest holdings.
