Marco Corsi Head of Vanguard’s Global ETF Research Centre
Under Marco’s leadership, the team will develop ETF-related research, perspectives, and content that will inform and educate institutional investors, retail intermediaries, and self-directed investors. ETFs are the fastest growing investment product in the world. In February 2018, assets held in ETFs crossed the $ 5 trillion barrier for the first time. This follows four consecutive years of inflows into ETFs. As at 31 July 2018, Vanguard ETFs totaled $ 968.1 billion.
Marco joins Vanguard from BlackRock, where he was most recently a Director at iShares responsible for the EMEA product research and innovation team. Previously, Marco held roles at Decura, Barclays, and Merrill Lynch. He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Paris VI as well as a PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Paris VII and the University of Padova. Marco reports to Axel Lomholt, Head of International ETFs.
Axel Lomholt, Head of International ETFs, comments: “We are establishing a dedicated research team to address critical global ETF issues to produce perspective that will be topical and insightful to investors, regulators, and influencers. As a global ETF leader, Vanguard looks forward to producing world-class research on this widely adopted investment product and its use by various types of investors.”
The London-based research team will collaborate with Vanguard’s other research groups around the world. Vanguard has long been a leader in investment and retirement research and commentary. Vanguard’s Investment Strategy Group frequently publishes white papers, web content, and academic articles on topics ranging from portfolio construction and investment strategies to current market and economic trends.
Vanguard Center for Investor Research, which examines the behaviour of individual investors, distributed earlier this year its flagship publication, How America Saves, which is widely referenced by plan sponsors, consultants, regulators, and academics as a benchmarking tool and blueprint for best practices in 401(k) plan design. The Center has also published similar studies in Australia and the UK
